Construction of our plant officialy begun on 01 January 2024. Whatch this space to keep up to date with the progress.
State of the art beef processing plant. This plant has been designed with the focus on enhancing meat quality. It is one of the few beef processors that have attended from the conception phase to final design with a focus on meat quality.
Efficiecny – Maximum automation to allow for maximum throughput, Focus on training of specialist staff.
Meat Quality – Together with meat scientist Prof Philip Strydom from University of Stellenbosch, design aspects were considered and form part of design to enhance meat quality. Including> Animal handling facility for stress free / minimum stress, optimal cooling curve design, deboning process optimsed to enhance quality of premium cuts.
Hygiene – Streamlined and optimised design of layout and processes to accommodate maximum hygiene standards
Full Supply Chain control– strong support base by suppliers that are shareholder in Savanna Beef Processors. Implement effective sourcing and distribution of quality beef throughout the year. Traceability from farm, throughout the plant up to final batches delivered.
Sustainability – Reverse Osmosis Wtaer treatment plant and humus processing of paunch content and future rendering plant. Photovoltaic system to drive cooling plant. Carbon Footprint studies concluded.

June Update
- Completion of the access road to the site up to the subbase level. - Platform fills to all major production areas are finished. - Construction of the lairage buildings is ongoing. - Foundation excavations for the slaughter floor, deboning hall, and dispatch areas are completed. - Foundation plinths for the slaughter floor have been constructed. - The first steel columns have been erected on the slaughter floor. - Sleeving to house services is currently being installed.
